My story so far...

Why did the Indian kid cross the road?
Because her parents, society and nosy neighbor asked her to.

If you got the joke, you’re probably an Indian rolling their eyes at how bad this joke is.
If you didn’t get the joke, then trust me it’s a rib-tickler. And also the basis of what makes me, me.

I was born into a working-class Indian family of four. Where my dad had stifled his dreams of singing and my mom long forgot her passion for writing to raise their two daughters, who might one day fall into the same trap. Because that’s what Indian society demanded you to do - score good marks, become a doctor or engineer, get married, have kids and continue the cycle. And that’s exactly what I did by becoming an engineering student.

But what truly brought me joy was writing funny stories. I knew I had a choice to make, be happy or conform. This led to my first act of rebellion. Leaving a comfortable path in engineering, I became a copywriter.

8 years later, I am an Associate Creative Director who handles national and international brands, a comedian, an activist for women, animal and LGBTQIA+ rights, and a non-conformist. I try to use my activism to create professional and personal work that creates some kind of impact, and in small ways changes the society we live in.

Along the way, I have had the fortune of working with amazing mentors and juniors. Together, we have created work that has challenged gender roles, changed sexism in Bollywood, flipped the perception of lesbians in India and even work that successfully sold a soap at 10% off. Work that has also been recognized by Cannes Lions, One Show, D&AD, DMA Echo and Effies.

I have also been fortunate enough to being recognized as Campaign Asia’s Young Achiever of 2018 and more recently have had the privilege of being part of Cannes Lions See It Be It, at Spikes Asia.
